Government of Sindh publicized a complete ban on plastic bags throughout the province by October 2019 aimed to make plastic free Sindh taken by the department of environment, Sindh.
The campaign aimed to prohibit the wide spreading plastic pollution and raise awareness among the general public, factories, manufacturers and shops of plastic bags to halt the increasingly pollution from manufacturing to disposal.
Standing with the productive campaign, Advisor to Sindh Chief Minister (CM) on Law, Environment and Coastal Development, Barrister Murtaza Wahab urged that there will be a complete ban upon the sale, manufacture and use of plastic bags throughout the Sindh province.
Barrister Murtaza emphasized that plastic bags are made of polythene and the manufacturing process cause severe environmental pollution that remains toxic to the environment after you throw it away.
The cloth bags alternatives to plastic shopping bags have been distributed among the commonalities by the government of Sindh at different areas of the city like Teen Talwar, Clifton.
“Plastic bag are the main reason for environmental pollution. Fifty per cent of rain nullas are choked due to plastic bags,” he concluded.
The violators will be dealt with according to the law after the deadline strict action will be taken against the sellers, manufacturers and users of plastic bags.
