Prof Atta ur Rahman will receive the China International Science and Technology Cooperation Award at the Great Peoples Hall located in Beijing for his valuable contributions in the field of chemistry.
This international award has previously been given to several leading scientists of the world i-e Nobel Laureates, Dr. Carlo Rubbia (Nobel Prize in physics, 1984) and Dr. Zhores I. Alferov (Nobel Prize in physics, 2000).
Prof Atta ur Rahman currently serving as Chairman of Prime Minister Task Force.
He is the most decorated scientist of Pakistan. He has been awarded four civil awards includes as the Tamgha- i-Imtiaz, Sitara-i-Imtiaz , Hilal-i-Imtiaz and the Nishan-i-Imtiaz. He has over 1,250 international publications, including 341 books published in the USA and Europe.
Prof. Atta ur Rahman is the first scientist from the Muslim world to have won the prestigious UNESCO Science Prize (1999) in the 35 year old history of the Prize. He was elected as Fellow of Royal Society (London) in July 2006. He has been conferred honorary doctorate degrees by many universities
China and Malaysia have also established major research centers on his name in recognition of his international eminence all over the world. He is also patron-in-chief of the International Centre for Chemical and Biological Sciences at Karachi University.
